PARTS OF SPEECH


The Parts of Speech are eight in number.
1. Noun  2. Pronoun 3. Adjective 4. Verb 5. Adverb 6. Preposition 7. Conjunction 
8. Interjection

1.Noun

A Noun is a word used for naming some person or thing
Examples
Subhas is a brilliant boy

2.Pronoun

A word used instead of a noun is called a pronoun.
Example
Ram is a boy.

3. Adjective

An Adjective is a word used for qualifying (or adding something to) the meaning of a Noun or Pronoun.
Example
Amal is a good boy. Bimal is very clever. He is an Indian.

4. Verb

A Verb is a word used for saying something about a person or a thing.
Example
The fat girl wrote a letter to her brother.

5.Adverb

An Adverb qualifies anything except a Noun or a Pronoun.
Example
Lila goes slowly. (Adverb modifies a verb)

6. Preposition

Is a word placed before a noun or noun –equivalent to show in what relation the person or thing denoted thereby stands for something else.
Example
The book is on the table.

7. Conjunction

A Conjunction is a word for joining one word to another word or one sentence to another sentence. 
Example
Reba and Rekha are good girls.

8. Interjection

An Interjection is a word or sound thrown into a sentence to express some feeling of the mind.
Example
Hello Ramesh! How do you do?
